He is 54 millimetres tall, cast in a zinc alloy and painted by hand. Small enough to work as decoration on a bookshelf or windowsill, and heavy enough to stay put wherever you set him down. An ideal gift for anyone who loves cycling.

The Belgian national jersey

At a world championship or the Olympic Games, riders compete for their country rather than their trade team. Belgium then rides in sky blue, with the national tricolour across the chest. Not to be confused with the Belgian champion's jersey, which is black, yellow and red throughout — that one is for whoever wins the national championship.

Eddy

Every cyclist by Bernard & Eddy carries a first name. Do you know who this one is? On a Belgian jersey there is only one possible answer: Eddy refers to Eddy Merckx, winner of five Tours, five Giri and a Vuelta, three times world champion, with well over five hundred victories to his name. He also supplies the second half of the brand name.

The Rider

This is the Rider: upright in the saddle, hands on the bars, turning the pedals steadily. It is the calmest of the five positions, and the one that lets you build a convincing peloton. Alongside the Rider there are the Sprinter, the Climber, the Winner and the Thirsty One, all available in different jerseys.

Features

Brand: Bernard & Eddy - View the entire collection

Name: Eddy

Jersey: sky blue national jersey of Belgium

Position: the Rider

Material: zinc alloy

Painting: by hand

Dimensions: 54 x 58 mm

Weight: 30 grams

Age: from 3 years

Safety: EN71 1-2-3 and ASTM

One rider is a beginning, not an end

Put Eddy next to Bernard in the yellow jersey and you have the two riders who gave the brand its name. They were largely forgotten by the start of this century, until Bernard & Eddy brought the tradition back. There are no sponsors or logos on these riders, only countries and symbolic jerseys. “Long live the flags”, as the brand puts it.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0505/9044/9818/files/Fietser_Kampioen_Belgie-designmarket.today_B.jpg?v=1742565414
