Secrid wallets and card holders protect your debit and credit cards against skimming and other forms of debit card fraud. The aluminium casing prevents unwanted communication (RFID-safe) and protects the cards against breaking and bending.
But the Secrid Wallets are also very handy to use. Although small in size, they have a surprising amount of space to store your banknotes and receipts etc. Thanks to the patented mechanism, your cards gradually emerge from the aluminum casing and you have an overview of your cards with one simple hand movement.
History
Secrid is a Dutch family business, fully owned by the Van Geer family. Initially, founders René van Geer and Marianne van Sasse van Ysselt had a design agency together in the 90s called Spirid, and worked for clients such as ING, Maxi Cosi and Quooker. At that time, they noticed that the contents of our trouser pockets were starting to change due to the introduction of electronic payment systems. In 1995, they created their first wallet: the Secrid Bodycard. At first, this remained a sideline next to their design agency.
Due to the financial crisis in 2008, they no longer received orders from their clients. They decided to change course and follow their dream: building their own brand with their own vision. And to make people look differently at the contents of their pockets. At that moment, Secrid became the main business and in 2009 they introduced the first Cardprotector, which had been adapted in terms of material and design to the requirements of that time. The Apple iPhone was an inspiration for the design and the choice of materials.
The first version of the Cardprotector won the prestigious Red Dot Design Award in 2010. That year, the first leather wallets were also introduced. Initially, the collection was expanded with the Miniwallet . Later, the Twinwallet and the Slimwallet were added. Two years later, the European Aluminium Award was won with the leather wallets.
Recently, the Bandwallet is also new in the collection. This is made of the strong and indestructible material TPU. It is completely animal-free and a new step by Secrid in their pursuit of sustainability.
The Art Collection is also special. In collaboration with the Rijksmuseum and the Mauritshuis, 4 Miniwallets were created, inspired by paintings by Dutch Master Painters. Works of art by Rembrandt, Jacob Vosmaer, Vermeer and Fabritius are applied in detail to the leather of the Miniwallet.
Today, the daughters are also active in the company. And they are still 100% independent. This allows them to chart their own course. Not only in their vision of the development of Secrid products. But also in their choices to run their business in a responsible way for the environment and society. For example, all Secrid products are made in the Netherlands, often in collaboration with social work companies. In 2022, Secrid became a B Corp, to achieve and stimulate an even better balance between people and planet.
