Vij5 | Interior Accessories and Design Products

From concept to product

Vij5 is a Dutch design label of interior accessories, furniture and lighting. Arjan van Raadshoven and Anieke Branderhorst put the collection together themselves, looking at the product and at the story behind it. When a concept appeals to them, they develop it into something that can actually be made: in small batches, by skilled craftspeople, and for a large part in the Eindhoven region. They work with designers such as Floris Hovers, Maarten Baptist, Ontwerpduo, Daphna Laurens and David Derksen.

Coatrack by the Meter: a coat rack the length of your hallway

The Coatrack by the Meter by Maarten Baptist is a wall coat rack you compose yourself. You pick a length of 20, 50 or 100 cm in gold, white, black or mint green, and link it with corner pieces and extensions to exactly the length your hallway needs — including around a corner onto another wall. For a narrow wall there is a vertical version of 50 cm, with a shelf or with a mirror. And there is a separate oak shelf that hangs from two hooks. Twenty-seven parts in all, to be found in our Wardrobe collection.

Alf: a wall hook for five hangers

The Alf is a solid wood wall hook that holds five clothes hangers one behind the other. It comes in various versions: oak in natural, black and walnut colour, and ash in green, dark blue, pink and deep red. Small enough for a narrow hallway, and good-looking enough to hang two or three side by side, as a coat rack or in the bedroom for your clothes. Alf is also in our Wardrobe collection.

Chaku, TwoTowel and Tap Water Carafe for the kitchen

The Chaku is a trivet of two triangular blocks of solid wood on a rope: you set the two parts as far apart as the pan requires, from a saucepan to an oven dish. The TwoTowel is a hand towel and a tea towel in one cloth, with a gradient in colour and in weave that lets the two halves run into one another. And the Tap Water Carafe by Lotte de Raadt is a water carafe of unglazed terracotta that keeps its own contents cool, with a stopper shaped like a tap — there is also a version in borosilicate glass. More for the kitchen in our Kitchen and Glassware & Tableware collections.

Fixum: a candle holder for every candle thickness

The Fixum by Floris Hovers clamps the candle between a horizontal metal plate and a vertical plate on a block of pear wood. You tighten the vertical plate with a brass wing screw. Anything between Ø 20 and 35 mm is held firmly, so a slim dinner candle and a thick pillar candle go into the same holder. Vij5 makes the Fixum in limited editions and chooses new colour combinations for each series. It sits in our Candles & Candleholders collection.
