About ELLE Decoration

The magazine ELLE Decoration is the interiors title of ELLE. A collection of lighting of its own appears under that name, made by the German lighting manufacturer Sompex. The starting point is the Parisian way of living: a home that need not be perfect, but does have personality. Warm light, carefully chosen materials, and designs that take their names from the districts of Paris.

The Vendome and the Odeon

The collection consists of two table lamps, each in matt gold, matt silver and matt black. The Vendome is the tall one of the two: 30 cm, with a fluted base that breaks the light into fine vertical lines, and a white glass shade that spreads it softly. The Odeon is lower and wider, 26 cm, with a shade of tinted black glass in which the LED sits at the top and shines downwards — the glass lights up rather than the room. Two characters, then: the Vendome classic and quiet, the Odeon dark and sparkling.

Cordless, so anywhere

The lamps run on a rechargeable battery, so you put them where you need light rather than where the socket is: on the dining table, on the windowsill or on the bedside table. They are sealed to IP65, so they can also stand outdoors — on the terrace, at the garden table, or on the bar of a restaurant. Charging is via the supplied USB cable, and the battery cells are replaceable: once the battery wears out after years of use, you replace it instead of the whole lamp.

Light you set yourself

Both models have a touch dimmer that sets the brightness steplessly. You also switch between two light colours: 2200 K for candle-warm and 2700 K for ordinary warm white. The lamp remembers your last setting, so it comes back the way you left it. Depending on how bright you set it, you get 8 to 160 hours of light.
