Miniature Cyclist Slovenian Jersey | the Rider | Bernard & Eddy

This miniature cyclist from the Belgian brand Bernard & Eddy wears the jersey of Slovenia, with the national flag. He is 54 millimetres tall, cast in a zinc alloy and painted by hand. Small enough to work as decoration on a bookshelf or windowsill, and heavy enough to stay put wherever you set him down. An ideal gift for anyone who loves cycling.

The Slovenian jersey

At a world championship or the Olympic Games, riders compete for their country rather than their trade team, in the national jersey. With two million inhabitants Slovenia is one of the smallest countries in the peloton, and at the same time one of the most successful of recent years — with riders who dominate the grand tours.

Primoz

Every cyclist by Bernard & Eddy carries a first name. Do you know who this one is? Primoz refers to Primož Roglič, who only took up cycling at twenty-three — before that he was a ski jumper. He won La Vuelta four times and the Giro once.

The Rider

This is the Rider: upright in the saddle, hands on the bars, turning the pedals steadily. It is the calmest of the five positions, and the one that lets you build a convincing peloton. Alongside the Rider there are the Sprinter, the Climber, the Winner and the Thirsty One, all available in different jerseys.

One rider is a beginning, not an end

Put Primoz next to the red jersey of La Vuelta: he won it four times. Or add the pink jersey of the Giro and his palmares is complete. The more riders, the more it starts to look like a real bike race.

About Bernard & Eddy

Miniature riders first appeared in the 1930s, when the organisers of the Tour de France wanted to put the national teams in the spotlight with a publicity caravan. They were largely forgotten by the start of this century, until Bernard & Eddy brought the tradition back. There are no sponsors or logos on these riders, only countries and symbolic jerseys. “Long live the flags”, as the brand puts it.
