The Amsterdam Plate is a design by tattoo artist Henk Schiffmacher for the Royal Delft pottery factory. This Delft Blue plate is part of the Schiffmacher Royal Blue Tattoo series: various ceramic products, such as plates and vases, have been decorated by Henk Schiffmacher with traditional tattoo symbols in Delft Blue. The plate is available in two sizes with different depictions.
Schiffmacher Royal Blue Tattoo
This collection is a unique collaboration between tattoo artist Henk Schiffmacher and Royal Delft. The classic porcelain design of Royal Delft is combined with tattoo symbols, such as anchors and roses. At first glance, perhaps not the most obvious combination. But both use traditional crafts, which originated in a distant ancient world and were brought here overseas. Both use ink to apply a one-time work of art, with a needle in the skin or with a brush on bisque.
The Schiffmacher Royal Blue Tattoo collection consists of both hand-painted items and transferred pieces.
Amsterdam Plate
With this new plate, tattoo artist Henk Schiffmacher sets course for the waters of Amsterdam. The decoration shows an imposing ship at full speed, not a specific ship, but a powerful tribute to the nautical heritage of the Netherlands.
The iconic XXX of Amsterdam are incorporated into the rim of the plate, as a subtle but recognizable reference to the city. This design seamlessly connects with the other themes within the Henk Schiffmacher collection.

About Royal Delft
Royal Delft is also known as Porceleyne Fles. This pottery factory has been creating high-quality Delft Blue products since 1653. It is the only surviving 17th-century pottery factory in Delft that still produces traditional hand-painted porcelain.
Traditional painting is still central, but over time, various techniques have been added. For example, the transfer process is widely used, in which an image is printed on the ceramic using screen printing. This creates a high-quality product that is more affordable than the hand-painted collection.
