Corner Piece for Coatrack by the Meter | Gold | Vij5

This corner piece is the connecting part of Coatrack by the Meter, the wall coat rack by Maarten Baptist for the Dutch design label Vij5. It is a short length of the same powder-coated steel tube, 10 cm per side, set at an angle of 90 degrees. It has no hooks of its own. This version is gold-coloured.

Around the corner, or a step higher

The corner piece works in two directions. Horizontally it takes the rack around a corner so that it continues on the adjoining wall — useful in a hallway that turns, or around a door frame. Vertically it sets a difference in height: one row of hooks at coat height and the next well below it for children, or above it for a composition that climbs the wall.

Part of the system

Coatrack by the Meter is built from separate parts you combine yourself: racks of 20, 50 and 100 cm, extension pieces without hooks in 20 and 50 cm for a quiet stretch between the hooks, and an oak shelf that rests on exactly two hooks. The connecting plates are supplied according to the number of elements, so the parts line up precisely. For inspiration and an overview of all the parts, see the overview page for Coatrack by the Meter.

Made in the Eindhoven region

The tubes are laser-cut industrially, which leaves little waste; the hooks are bent by hand and the powder coating is done by a company near Eindhoven. The packaging is Dutch recycled cardboard.
