This is the vertical version of Coatrack by the Meter with a mirror, the wall coat rack by Maarten Baptist for the Dutch design label Vij5. The same powder-coated steel tube of 4 × 4 cm, but upright on the wall: 50 cm high, with three hooks one above the other and a mirror of 30 × 30 cm. The mirror is fixed to the tube, so you put up a single element. This version is black.
Take your coat and check yourself once more
In a hallway you do two things: pick up your coat and take one last look to see that everything sits right. Here both are in one object. The three hooks sit one above the other instead of side by side, so the rack needs little width — beside a door, between two frames or in a narrow hallway that is often the only size that fits. The square mirror of 30 × 30 cm has no frame, just as the rack itself has no backplate and no bracket.
Part of the system
The vertical version combines with everything from the horizontal range. The connecting plates line it up with a rack of 20, 50 or 100 cm, the corner piece turns the line through 90 degrees, and the extension pieces without hooks give you a quiet stretch between the hooks. On its own on the wall it works just as well. For inspiration and an overview of all the parts, see the overview page for Coatrack by the Meter.
Made in the Eindhoven region
The tubes are laser-cut industrially, which leaves little waste; the hooks are bent by hand and the powder coating is done by a company near Eindhoven. The packaging is Dutch recycled cardboard.
