How the Bottle Boat came about

A summer's day in France, along the river. From washed-up litter – a plastic bottle, a plastic bag, some twigs – the characteristic form of a sailboat emerged through crafting. Playing children immediately recognized the silhouette and happily took it with them. From this intuitive design, the Bottle Boat acquired its stylized form. A an empty (shampoo) bottle as a hull, a colorful sail in a spool, two elastic bands. Partially recycled, but not designed with sustainability in mind... Here, everything revolves around semantics; the art of using objects in a different way and seeing them as building blocks for creating new forms and objects.
