Flessenboot (Bottle Boat) is a design by Floris Hovers for the Dutch brand Ikonic. With this simple DIY kit, you can transform an empty shampoo bottle into this beautiful, iconic Flessenboot. The package contains 1 sail, 1 wooden mast, 1 wooden mast base, 1 wooden keel, and 1 elastic band. Use an old shampoo bottle and make your own sailboat!
The design of the Flessenboot is astonishingly simple and clearly bears the distinctive signature of designer Floris Hovers. With small interventions and simple materials, existing products can take on a whole new meaning. The Flessenboot is available in 8 different colors.

How the Flessenboot came to be

A summer day in France, along the river. From washed-up litter – a plastic bottle, a plastic bag, some twigs – the characteristic silhouette of a sailboat emerged while crafting. Playing children immediately recognized the silhouette and gratefully took it with them. From this intuitive design, the little bottle boat gained its stylized form.

An empty (shampoo) bottle as a hull, a colorful sail in a spool, two elastic bands. Partially reused, but not designed with sustainability in mind.....Here, everything revolves around semantics; the art of using objects in a different way and seeing them as building blocks for creating new forms and objects.

About Floris Hovers

Floris Hovers graduated from the Design Academy in Eindhoven and has since been an independent designer. His work consists of a wide range of products: from toys to furniture and interior products. All his designs are immediately recognizable by his signature and unique design style. The basic and simple approach to techniques and materials has resulted in a colorful, playful, and surprising body of work. His designs are either produced by himself or marketed by renowned manufacturers.

We aim to deliver your order quickly. Orders placed on weekdays before 4 PM will be shipped the same day, unless otherwise stated. Sometimes delivery may be delayed, for example if a product is out of stock. In that case, we will inform you as soon as possible and you can cancel if you wish.

Within the Netherlands, shipping is free from €49,-, otherwise it costs €4,95. Returns cost €3,95. In Belgium and Germany, shipping is free from €69,-, otherwise it costs €4,95, and returns cost €4,95.

Returns within the Netherlands cost €3.95. You can cancel your order up to 14 days after receipt without giving a reason via the email from our shipping partner Sendcloud. This email contains a link to the return portal, where you can create a return label.
After cancellation, you have another 14 days to return the product at a PostNL point. You will receive the full order amount back, excluding any shipping costs to the customer. The product must be returned with all accessories and, if possible, in its original condition and packaging. We will refund the amount within 14 days of receiving the return shipment. For other European countries, a return fee applies, calculated via the Sendcloud link.
