The Gluckigluck is a porcelain water jug shaped like a fish. It makes a gurgling sound as you pour. The name Gluckigluck — or Gluggle Jug, as it is also known — comes from that “Glug-Glug”. This version is matt black: the same shape, but without the shine of the standard glaze. The jug holds 1.2 litres — enough for four glasses.
Matt rather than glossy
Most Gluckigluck versions have a glossy glaze that reflects the light. The matt finish does the opposite: it absorbs the light, which makes the shape of the fish read more sharply and the colour more even. If you want the jug a little more understated than the glossy versions, this is the one.
The sound
As you pour, water runs along the hollow body of the fish, producing a deep, gurgling “Glug-Glug”. It sounds best when the jug is about three-quarters full. You hear it again when you set the jug down. It is a sound that never fails to draw attention at the table and surprises people every time. It puts a smile on their faces. Children love it too. Only the original makes the “Glug-Glug”.
Since the 1870s, made by hand
The design is more than a hundred and fifty years old and is still made by hand in Stoke-on-Trent, the pottery region of England. Every jug passes through six pairs of hands before it is finished and is fired twice at 1200 degrees. There is a stamp on the base by which you recognise the original.
Not only for water
The Gluckigluck is not only a water jug. Its distinctive shape makes it a focal point in a room, which means it works just as well as a vase, or as a holder for kitchen utensils beside the hob. On a table, on a sideboard or in the kitchen: it looks right anywhere and draws the eye everywhere.

Why only the XL
The Gluckigluck comes in three sizes: XL, L and Mini. We stock only the XL, because it is the only one that really works as a water jug. Despite the name, the L is considerably smaller — 22 cm high holding 0.6 litres — and its sound is less deep. The Mini is meant for cream or as a vase for a single flower. The size labels are confusing, and rather than have you end up with a jug that turns out too small, we offer just the one.
We aim to deliver your order quickly. Orders placed on weekdays before 4 PM will be shipped the same day, unless otherwise stated. Sometimes delivery may be delayed, for example if a product is out of stock. In that case, we will inform you as soon as possible and you can cancel if you wish.
Within the Netherlands, shipping is free from €49,-, otherwise it costs €4,95. Returns cost €3,95. In Belgium and Germany, shipping is free from €69,-, otherwise it costs €4,95, and returns cost €4,95.
Returns within the Netherlands cost €3.95. You can cancel your order up to 14 days after receipt without giving a reason via the email from our shipping partner Sendcloud. This email contains a link to the return portal, where you can create a return label.
After cancellation, you have another 14 days to return the product at a PostNL point. You will receive the full order amount back, excluding any shipping costs to the customer. The product must be returned with all accessories and, if possible, in its original condition and packaging. We will refund the amount within 14 days of receiving the return shipment. For other European countries, a return fee applies, calculated via the Sendcloud link.
