Kaweco Classic Sport Fountain Pen | Bordeaux

The Kaweco Classic Sport fountain pen is a compact pen in plastic with a gold-coloured nib. The octagonal design dates from 1911 and has not changed since. This version in bordeaux has a deep wine red.

Small enough to always have with you

Kaweco's Sport range is built around writing gear you take with you. The name Sport dates from 1911 and came about because the pen was designed for sportsmen, military officers and people on the move. Closed, this fountain pen measures 10.5 cm and fits in an inside pocket, a case, or onto a notebook with a pen clip. Screw the cap onto the back and it grows to 13 cm, sitting in the hand like a full-size fountain pen.

The nib

The nib is stainless steel with a gold-coloured finish and is made in Germany. This pen is supplied with a Medium nib, the usual choice for ordinary handwriting and a good place to start if you have never written with a fountain pen before.

The ink

The pen comes with a blue ink cartridge. It takes standard short cartridges, sold separately in many colours, or a mini converter if you would rather fill from a bottle. For travelling there are leather cases for one or two pens, and a separate clip to fasten the pen to a notepad.

Bordeaux

Bordeaux is a deep wine red, named after the wines of that French region. It is the warmest colour in the Classic Sport range: dark enough to stay quiet on a desk, but with noticeably more colour than black or navy. Against the dark red the gold-coloured nib and details stand out all the more.
