Kaweco Liliput Fountain Pen | Fireblue Stainless Steel

At 9.7 cm the Kaweco Liliput fountain pen is one of the smallest in the world. This version is made of stainless steel heated by hand, which draws blue and brown tones into the metal. No two pens are alike.

Small in your pocket, full size in your hand

With the cap on, the Liliput measures 9.7 cm and is under a centimetre thick, so it fits in a breast pocket, a coin pocket or the pen loop of a notebook. Without the cap it is 8.7 cm — too short to write with comfortably. Screw the cap onto the back and it grows to 12.5 cm, sitting in the hand like an ordinary fountain pen. That screw system is the idea behind the Liliput: small while you carry it, full size the moment you use it.

The Liliput is Kaweco's most restrained design. No clip, no ridges, just a straight cylinder. If you do want to fasten it to a pocket or a notepad, there is a separate clip that slides under the cap.

Fireblue: colour out of the flame

Every Fireblue is worked individually with a torch. Heating the steel creates a thin oxide layer that refracts the light, and that layer runs from deep blue through purple to brown depending on how hot the metal became at each point. The pattern is not printed on, then — it is the metal itself, and it can go on changing with daily use. If you want a pen that looks different in a year's time, this is the one; if you want an even colour, choose the plain stainless steel version.

The nib

The nib is stainless steel and made in Germany. This pen is supplied with a Medium nib, the usual choice for ordinary handwriting. It takes standard ink cartridges, or a mini converter if you would rather fill from a bottle.

Besides Fireblue the Liliput comes in plain stainless steel, in brass and copper that darken over the years, and in light aluminium in black or silver. The ballpoint is available in a capped version, in brass and in copper. For travelling there are leather cases that protect the pen against scratches.

Within the Netherlands, shipping is free from €49,-, otherwise it costs €4,95. Returns cost €3,95. In Belgium and Germany, shipping is free from €69,-, otherwise it costs €4,95, and returns cost €4,95.

Returns within the Netherlands cost €3.95. You can cancel your order up to 14 days after receipt without giving a reason via the email from our shipping partner Sendcloud. This email contains a link to the return portal, where you can create a return label.
After cancellation, you have another 14 days to return the product at a PostNL point. You will receive the full order amount back, excluding any shipping costs to the customer. The product must be returned with all accessories and, if possible, in its original condition and packaging. We will refund the amount within 14 days of receiving the return shipment. For other European countries, a return fee applies, calculated via the Sendcloud link.
