Kaweco Classic Sport Clutch Pencil | 3.2 mm | Red

The Kaweco Classic Sport clutch pencil is a compact pencil with a 3.2 mm lead. The octagonal design dates from 1911 and has not changed since. This version in red has a bright, warm red with gold-coloured details.

Small enough to always have with you

Kaweco's Sport range is built around writing gear you take with you. The name Sport dates from 1911 and came about because the pen was designed for sportsmen, military officers and people on the move. At 10.5 cm this pencil fits neatly in an inside pocket, a case, or onto a notebook with a pen clip. Your pencil is always to hand.

3.2 millimetres for sketching and drawing

Where an ordinary mechanical pencil gives you one fixed line width, this one does not. The 3.2 mm lead is a soft 5B: hold the pencil upright and the line stays narrow; tilt it and press harder and the line turns broad and dark. That lets you shade areas and shadows without swapping pencils.

A press of the button drops the lead; sharpening is done with a 3.2 mm sharpener. Spare leads are sold separately.

The 0.7 mm pencil is the better choice if you want a fixed, fine line for writing.

Red

Red is the boldest colour in the Classic Sport range. Where black and navy keep quiet, this is the pencil you spot straight away on a crowded desk — useful if you leave it beside a sketchbook. If you want the same red but darker and more restrained, there is the bordeaux version.
