Miniature Cyclist Polka Dot Jersey | the Thirsty One | Bernard & Eddy

This miniature cyclist from the Belgian brand Bernard & Eddy wears the polka dot jersey of the Tour de France. He is reaching for his bidon. The Thirsty One

This is the Thirsty One: one hand on the bars, the other lifting his bidon to his mouth. Of the five different riding positions the Bernard & Eddy cyclists come in, this is the only one in which the rider takes a moment's rest. A familiar moment in any race: he eases off and drinks to recover for the rest of the day. Bernard & Eddy call these figures les assoiffés, the thirsty ones.

The polka dot jersey

White with red dots: the jersey for the best climber in the Tour de France. Points are awarded at the summit of every categorised climb, and the harder the mountain, the more there are to win. Winning that classification means going over the mountains day after day — and reaching for the bidon a great deal.

Albert

Every cyclist by Bernard & Eddy carries a first name, and the brand leaves you to work out who is meant. Our guess is Albert Bourlon, who in 1947 rode a breakaway of 253 kilometres — still the longest solo in the history of the Tour. Anyone out on his own that long knows what to do with a bidon. The polka dot jersey comes in four positions: Richard as the Rider, Egan as the Climber, Stephen as the Winner and Albert with the bidon. Line them up and you have a whole mountain stage. The more riders, the more it starts to look like a real bike race.

About Bernard & Eddy

Miniature riders first appeared in the 1930s, when the organisers of the Tour de France wanted to put the national teams in the spotlight with a publicity caravan. They were largely forgotten by the start of this century, until Bernard & Eddy brought the tradition back. There are no sponsors or logos on these riders, only countries and symbolic jerseys. “Long live the flags”, as the brand puts it.

We aim to deliver your order quickly. Orders placed on weekdays before 4 PM will be shipped the same day, unless otherwise stated. Sometimes delivery may be delayed, for example if a product is out of stock. In that case, we will inform you as soon as possible and you can cancel if you wish.

Within the Netherlands, shipping is free from €49,-, otherwise it costs €4,95. Returns cost €3,95. In Belgium and Germany, shipping is free from €69,-, otherwise it costs €4,95, and returns cost €4,95.

Returns within the Netherlands cost €3.95. You can cancel your order up to 14 days after receipt without giving a reason via the email from our shipping partner Sendcloud. This email contains a link to the return portal, where you can create a return label.
After cancellation, you have another 14 days to return the product at a PostNL point. You will receive the full order amount back, excluding any shipping costs to the customer. The product must be returned with all accessories and, if possible, in its original condition and packaging. We will refund the amount within 14 days of receiving the return shipment. For other European countries, a return fee applies, calculated via the Sendcloud link.
