Miniature Cyclist Italian Champion | the Thirsty One | Bernard & Eddy

This miniature cyclist from the Belgian brand Bernard & Eddy wears the champion's jersey of Italy, in green, white and red. He is reaching for his bidon. The Thirsty One

This is the Thirsty One: one hand on the bars, the other lifting his bidon to his mouth. Of the five different riding positions the Bernard & Eddy cyclists come in, this is the only one in which the rider takes a moment's rest. A familiar moment in any race: he eases off and drinks to recover for the rest of the day. Bernard & Eddy call these figures les assoiffés, the thirsty ones.

The Italian champion's jersey

Whoever wins the national road race championship may wear the champion's jersey for a year in every race he starts. For Italy it is done in green, white and red. In the country of the Giro d'Italia and the Monuments, that jersey carries weight: the Italian champion rides the whole season in plain view at the front.

Giancarlo

Every cyclist by Bernard & Eddy carries a first name, and the brand leaves you to work out who is meant. This one is tricky. Giancarlo Bellini won the polka dot jersey in the 1976 Tour. One rider is a beginning, not an end

The Italian champion's jersey comes in three positions: Fausto as the Rider, Vincenzo as the Winner and Giancarlo with the bidon. Or put him next to Felice in azzurro and Marco and Gino in pink, and Italy is complete. The more riders, the more it starts to look like a real bike race.

About Bernard & Eddy

Miniature riders first appeared in the 1930s, when the organisers of the Tour de France wanted to put the national teams in the spotlight with a publicity caravan. They were largely forgotten by the start of this century, until Bernard & Eddy brought the tradition back. There are no sponsors or logos on these riders, only countries and symbolic jerseys. “Long live the flags”, as the brand puts it.

We aim to deliver your order quickly. Orders placed on weekdays before 4 PM will be shipped the same day, unless otherwise stated. Sometimes delivery may be delayed, for example if a product is out of stock. In that case, we will inform you as soon as possible and you can cancel if you wish.

Within the Netherlands, shipping is free from €49,-, otherwise it costs €4,95. Returns cost €3,95. In Belgium and Germany, shipping is free from €69,-, otherwise it costs €4,95, and returns cost €4,95.

Returns within the Netherlands cost €3.95. You can cancel your order up to 14 days after receipt without giving a reason via the email from our shipping partner Sendcloud. This email contains a link to the return portal, where you can create a return label.
After cancellation, you have another 14 days to return the product at a PostNL point. You will receive the full order amount back, excluding any shipping costs to the customer. The product must be returned with all accessories and, if possible, in its original condition and packaging. We will refund the amount within 14 days of receiving the return shipment. For other European countries, a return fee applies, calculated via the Sendcloud link.
