Miniature Cyclist Dutch Jersey | the Rider | Bernard & Eddy

This miniature cyclist from the Belgian brand Bernard & Eddy wears the orange jersey of the Dutch national team. He is 54 millimetres tall, cast in a zinc alloy and painted by hand. The Dutch national jersey

At a world championship or the Olympic Games, riders compete for their country rather than their trade team. They swap their usual kit for the national jersey. For the Netherlands that jersey is orange, with the national flag on it. It is one of the few moments in the cycling season when the peloton rides in national colours instead of sponsors' kit.

Joop

Every cyclist by Bernard & Eddy carries a first name. Do you know who this one is? Joop refers to Joop Zoetemelk, who won the Tour de France in 1980 and became world champion in 1985. He started the Tour sixteen times and reached Paris on all sixteen — six of them in second place.

The Rider

This is the Rider: upright in the saddle, hands on the bars, turning the pedals steadily. It is the calmest of the five positions, and the one that lets you build a convincing peloton. About Bernard & Eddy

Miniature riders first appeared in the 1930s, when the organisers of the Tour de France wanted to put the national teams in the spotlight with a publicity caravan. They were largely forgotten by the start of this century, until Bernard & Eddy brought the tradition back. There are no sponsors or logos on these riders, only countries and symbolic jerseys. “Long live the flags”, as the brand puts it.

We aim to deliver your order quickly. Orders placed on weekdays before 4 PM will be shipped the same day, unless otherwise stated. Sometimes delivery may be delayed, for example if a product is out of stock. In that case, we will inform you as soon as possible and you can cancel if you wish.

Within the Netherlands, shipping is free from €49,-, otherwise it costs €4,95. Returns cost €3,95. In Belgium and Germany, shipping is free from €69,-, otherwise it costs €4,95, and returns cost €4,95.

Returns within the Netherlands cost €3.95. You can cancel your order up to 14 days after receipt without giving a reason via the email from our shipping partner Sendcloud. This email contains a link to the return portal, where you can create a return label.
After cancellation, you have another 14 days to return the product at a PostNL point. You will receive the full order amount back, excluding any shipping costs to the customer. The product must be returned with all accessories and, if possible, in its original condition and packaging. We will refund the amount within 14 days of receiving the return shipment. For other European countries, a return fee applies, calculated via the Sendcloud link.
