Miniature Cyclist Pink Jersey Giro | the Rider | Bernard & Eddy

This miniature cyclist from the Belgian brand Bernard & Eddy wears the pink jersey of the Giro d'Italia. He is 54 millimetres tall, cast in a zinc alloy and painted by hand. The pink jersey

The maglia rosa goes to the leader of the general classification in the Giro d'Italia — the Giro's equivalent of the yellow jersey. The pink comes from La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Italian sports paper that organises the race and is printed on pink paper. The same idea as the yellow jersey, only with a different newspaper.

On this figurine the Italian tricolour runs across the pink jersey. In a grand tour the leader's jersey always takes precedence over the national champion's jersey, so a rider entitled to both rides in pink with his country's colours worked into it.

Marco

Every cyclist by Bernard & Eddy carries a first name. Do you know who this one is? Marco refers to Marco Pantani, the climber who won both the Giro and the Tour de France in 1998 — something nobody has managed since. The brand names him itself, in its list of champions for whom the country matters more than the sponsor.

The Rider

This is the Rider: upright in the saddle, hands on the bars, turning the pedals steadily. It is the calmest of the five positions, and the one that lets you build a convincing peloton. Alongside the Rider there are the Sprinter, the Climber, the Winner and the Thirsty One, all available in different jerseys.

About Bernard & Eddy

Miniature riders first appeared in the 1930s, when the organisers of the Tour de France wanted to put the national teams in the spotlight with a publicity caravan. They were largely forgotten by the start of this century, until Bernard & Eddy brought the tradition back. There are no sponsors or logos on these riders, only countries and symbolic jerseys. “Long live the flags”, as the brand puts it.

We aim to deliver your order quickly. Orders placed on weekdays before 4 PM will be shipped the same day, unless otherwise stated. Sometimes delivery may be delayed, for example if a product is out of stock. In that case, we will inform you as soon as possible and you can cancel if you wish.

Within the Netherlands, shipping is free from €49,-, otherwise it costs €4,95. Returns cost €3,95. In Belgium and Germany, shipping is free from €69,-, otherwise it costs €4,95, and returns cost €4,95.

Returns within the Netherlands cost €3.95. You can cancel your order up to 14 days after receipt without giving a reason via the email from our shipping partner Sendcloud. This email contains a link to the return portal, where you can create a return label.
After cancellation, you have another 14 days to return the product at a PostNL point. You will receive the full order amount back, excluding any shipping costs to the customer. The product must be returned with all accessories and, if possible, in its original condition and packaging. We will refund the amount within 14 days of receiving the return shipment. For other European countries, a return fee applies, calculated via the Sendcloud link.
