Miniature Cyclist World Champion | the Sprinter | Bernard & Eddy

This miniature cyclist from the Belgian brand Bernard & Eddy wears the rainbow jersey of the world champion. He lies flat on the bars, at full sprint. At 54 millimetres he is small enough to work as decoration on a bookshelf or windowsill. He is cast in a zinc alloy and painted by hand, and his weight keeps him standing wherever you set him down. The Sprinter

This is the Sprinter: bent low over the bars with his head down, giving everything he has in the last two hundred metres of the race. Of the five riding positions the Bernard & Eddy riders come in, this is the fastest — and the mirror image of the Winner, who throws an arm up a few seconds later. Put the two together and you have the finale of a flat stage.

The rainbow jersey

The world champion wears a white jersey with five coloured bands: from top to bottom blue, red, black, yellow and green. They are the same colours as the rings on the Olympic flag, and they stand for the different continents. The road world championship often ends in a sprint — and this is exactly the image in which the jersey changes hands.

Oscar

Every cyclist by Bernard & Eddy carries a first name. Do you know who this one is? Oscar refers to Óscar Freire, the Spaniard who became world champion three times. That puts him in a group of four riders — Eddy Merckx among them — to have managed it. He also won Milan-Sanremo three times.

About Bernard & Eddy

Miniature riders first appeared in the 1930s, when the organisers of the Tour de France wanted to put the national teams in the spotlight with a publicity caravan. They were largely forgotten by the start of this century, until Bernard & Eddy brought the tradition back. There are no sponsors or logos on these riders, only countries and symbolic jerseys. “Long live the flags”, as the brand puts it.

We aim to deliver your order quickly. Orders placed on weekdays before 4 PM will be shipped the same day, unless otherwise stated. Sometimes delivery may be delayed, for example if a product is out of stock. In that case, we will inform you as soon as possible and you can cancel if you wish.

Within the Netherlands, shipping is free from €49,-, otherwise it costs €4,95. Returns cost €3,95. In Belgium and Germany, shipping is free from €69,-, otherwise it costs €4,95, and returns cost €4,95.

Returns within the Netherlands cost €3.95. You can cancel your order up to 14 days after receipt without giving a reason via the email from our shipping partner Sendcloud. This email contains a link to the return portal, where you can create a return label.
After cancellation, you have another 14 days to return the product at a PostNL point. You will receive the full order amount back, excluding any shipping costs to the customer. The product must be returned with all accessories and, if possible, in its original condition and packaging. We will refund the amount within 14 days of receiving the return shipment. For other European countries, a return fee applies, calculated via the Sendcloud link.
