Remember Oscar Rechargeable LED Table Lamp | Midnight

Oscar is a rechargeable table lamp from the German brand Remember, for indoors and out. This version is called Midnight: a dark blue base with a yellow shade. It is the darkest of the four, and at the same time the one with the most contrast.

Dark blue with yellow

Blue and yellow sit directly opposite each other on the colour wheel, and it shows: the yellow shade leaps forward while the dark blue base recedes. Switched on, the effect grows — the warm light colours the yellow shade from within, so it appears to glow and the base looks darker still. Of the four versions, this is the one that stands out most in a dark room.

Carry it around, and it can go outside

Oscar runs on a rechargeable battery, so there is no cable to the socket. Put it on the sideboard, carry it to the dining table and take it outside in summer — it is splash-proof to IP44, so it can stay out on the terrace or the garden table. Charging goes through the USB-C port with the supplied half-metre cable; a plug adapter is not included. Charging takes eight to nine hours, after which it runs for up to eighty hours.

Dimming in three steps

The touch button on top of the shade switches between three brightness levels. The light itself is warm white (3000 Kelvin) and gives 255 lumens at the highest setting — enough to fill a corner of the room, not so much that it feels like a work light. Those eighty hours are on the lowest setting; at full brightness it runs down considerably sooner.

The largest of the rechargeable Remembers

At H 33.5 | Ø 14.5 cm, Oscar is the largest of the rechargeable lamps from Remember, and at 255 lumens the brightest too: Bob and Filou both reach 140 lumens. In return, Oscar sticks to one light colour and dims in three fixed steps, while Filou dims steplessly and offers three light colours. Oscar is the lamp for actually seeing by; Filou and Bob are more about atmosphere.
