Tile Homeward Royal Delft | Henk Schiffmacher | Delft Blue

Tile Homeward is a Delft Blue tile from the earthenware factory Royal Delft, designed by Henk Schiffmacher. The classic wall tile with a contemporary design.

Henk Schiffmacher - Royal Blue Tattoo

This collection is a unique collaboration between tattoo artist Henk Schiffmacher and Royal Delft. At first glance, perhaps not the most obvious combination. But both use traditional crafts, which originated in a distant ancient world and were brought here overseas. Both use ink to apply a one-time work of art, with a needle in the skin or with a brush on biscuit.
The Schiffmacher Royal Blue Tattoo collection consists of both hand-painted items and transferred pieces.

Tile Homeward

On this tile, we see a ship trying to come home in stormy weather. Many sailors had symbolic tattoos on their bodies. Tattoos that reminded them of home and love. Seafaring is still a popular subject for tattooing.

About Royal Delft

Royal Delft is also known as Porceleyne Fles. This earthenware factory has been creating high-quality Delft Blue products since 1653. It is the only surviving 17th-century earthenware factory in Delft that still produces traditionally hand-painted porcelain.
The artisanal painting is still central, but over time, various techniques have been added. For example, the transfer process is widely used, where an image is printed on the ceramic using screen printing. This creates a high-quality product that is more affordable than the hand-painted collection.
