Design for garden and balcony

A garden or balcony is an extension of your home. You furnish it just as carefully as the rest of the house. Everything out there simply has to withstand rain, sun and frost. In this collection you will find interior accessories that are made for outdoor use and beautiful with it: birdhouses where you enjoy not only the birds but the design as well, a watering can that is welcome to stay out on the terrace as decoration, and buckets with a lid sturdy enough to sit on. That way the eye for detail from your Interior simply carries on outside.

Birdhouses that change with the season

The Multiholk by the Swedish brand Wildlife Garden is birdhouse and nest box in one. In winter you use it as a feeding house; in spring you take off the roof, add the extra floor and it becomes a nest box. The design was developed with the help of ornithologists: there are climbing ridges on the inside so the chicks can reach the opening when they learn to fly, and the feed tray is enclosed so the food stays clean. The wood comes from responsibly managed forests and the paint is environmentally friendly. There are countless versions, from a Swedish mountain cabin and a half-timbered house to a modern home in the style of the De Stijl art movement, with the lines and primary colours of Rietveld and Mondrian. Hang it on the wall, or place it in the middle of your garden on the metal pole. The same brand also makes the bee hotels and the feeding house with bird bath. Bird feeders with a language of their own

The Dutch label Heeej approaches it from the design side. Designer Ilse Bouwens grew up among the cows and the birds, and wants to bring nature a little closer again. The Leaf Me is a feeding dish shaped like a plane tree leaf, with the metal dish held by a magnet so you can lift it off to refill; rainwater drains away through the slits in the veins. There are also The Barn and the Diamond models, for the wall or on a pole. Everything is made from powder-coated metal and Corten steel, materials that only grow more beautiful outdoors. The clean shapes suit a modern home perfectly.

Watering, carrying and tidying up

The designs by the Japanese brand Hachiman do more than make garden work lighter. They are lovely to look at as well. The modern plastic designs are shaped in the Japanese design tradition. The Garden Beetle is a watering can shaped like a beetle. The slits in the spout form a sprinkler system: the water runs through the slits and is spread evenly over your plants. Inside there is a measuring scale — useful when a plant needs a precise amount of water, or when you add plant food. There is a small version of 1.5 litres and a large one of 5 litres.
The Omnioutil buckets come in four sizes from 4 to 20 litres, with a lid that carries 150 kilos — so do sit on it while you work on your plants, or pull it up to the table for an extra guest. There is a ring in the handle to hold the garden hose while you fill the bucket, and after the season you nest them inside one another or stack them with the lids on.
