Little Sun Original | Portable Solar Lamp | Olafur Eliasson

The Little Sun Original is a portable solar lamp in the shape of a sun. Five hours charging in the sun gives four hours of bright light, or more than fifty hours of soft light if you dim it. No socket, no batteries needed.

How it works

Place the lamp in the sun with the solar panel facing up. After five hours it is fully charged. One press of the button turns the lamp on or off. Hold the button down to dim the light steplessly. The softer you set it, the longer it burns.

Use Little Sun on the balcony, in the garden, camping or at a festival. At home it works well as a night light in a child's room. Children love this lamp, and learn straight away that light can come from the sun: an early lesson in using energy wisely.

Designed by Olafur Eliasson

The Little Sun was designed by Olafur Eliasson, one of the best-known artists working today. He developed it together with engineer Frederik Ottesen. Eliasson's work is known worldwide and hangs in museums such as the Guggenheim and Tate Modern. With Little Sun you bring an exceptional everyday object into your home.

A social enterprise

Buying a Little Sun supports their social project. It raises money to make solar lamps and chargers available at affordable prices in areas without electricity. It is a clean alternative to expensive and toxic fuel-based lighting.

Little Sun started small: making a portable solar lamp for people in areas of Ethiopia without power. That work has since grown considerably, and the foundation now also focuses on product development and on education about the environment.
