MoMA Mondri Vase | Design Vase De Stijl | Mondrian

The Mondri is a vase made of acrylic panels: some coloured in red, yellow, blue and black, others clear. Light passes through the vase and casts coloured shadows on the table, shifting as the sun moves. Designed by Frank Kerdil for MoMA, as a tribute to De Stijl and to Piet Mondrian.

Three chambers, three ways to stand it

Inside the vase are three separate chambers. Lay it on a different side and a different chamber comes out on top, and that is the one you use. So you decide how tall and how wide the opening is: upright for long stems, on its side for a short bunch or single blooms.

That makes it playful. With the coloured and clear panels it looks different from every angle, and different again with flowers in it than without.

De Stijl

The De Stijl movement was marked by an abstract, minimalist aesthetic built from geometric shapes and primary colours. The forms and colours of this vase refer directly to the work of Piet Mondrian, one of the movement's founders.

What Mondrian did on a flat surface — fields of colour bounded by black lines — this vase does in three dimensions, with light added.

Frank Kerdil

Danish designer Frank Kerdil started out in graphic design and was co-owner of an advertising agency from 1984 to 1998. He then founded a product design studio. He has been nominated for numerous awards, for both product and graphic design. He also designed the Line Up vase, which is white when slid together and coloured when opened.

Within the Netherlands, shipping is free from €49,-, otherwise it costs €4,95. Returns cost €3,95. In Belgium and Germany, shipping is free from €69,-, otherwise it costs €4,95, and returns cost €4,95.

Returns within the Netherlands cost €3.95. You can cancel your order up to 14 days after receipt without giving a reason via the email from our shipping partner Sendcloud. This email contains a link to the return portal, where you can create a return label.
After cancellation, you have another 14 days to return the product at a PostNL point. You will receive the full order amount back, excluding any shipping costs to the customer. The product must be returned with all accessories and, if possible, in its original condition and packaging. We will refund the amount within 14 days of receiving the return shipment. For other European countries, a return fee applies, calculated via the Sendcloud link.
