The Clack is an egg topper that opens the top of a boiled egg. Place the metal cap on the egg, lift the steel ball and let it drop. Clack! — a clean, round breaking line appears in the shell, along which you can now lift the top off neatly. No more shattered shell or annoying fragments in your egg. This version has a small ceramic egg on top with red hearts on it.

How it works

The shell is not cut but broken, exactly in a ring. Place the cap on a hard or soft boiled egg, drop the ball and lift the top off with a knife — or with the Clack itself, by tilting it slightly. If it does not work first time, drop the ball once more. As an egg opener this is the quickest and best method there is: one movement and your egg is open, with a clean edge.

The word it all started with

In Germany this Clack is called an Eierschalensollbruchstellenverursacher: a causer of predetermined breaking points in eggshells. The word is half the fun in itself. It is printed on the box, and in small letters on the rod of the Clack. A fine word for the breakfast table. Both the word and the Clack itself are guaranteed to raise a laugh. Functional design with a sense of humour.

The original

The Clack was designed by Hartmut Dolp, Markus Roling and Volker Zitzmann for Take2-Design in Rosenheim, Germany. The versions differ in the top: wood, silicone, ceramic or metal. The ceramic eggs are painted by hand.

Hearts on an egg

The top of this version is itself a small ceramic egg, hand-painted with red hearts. Because it is handwork, no two are exactly alike. Of the whole range this is the most obvious one to give away: for Valentine's Day, for a birthday, or simply to the person you sit down to breakfast with every morning.

As a gift

Once you have used this egg topper you will never open an egg the traditional way again. But it is not only handy for yourself. It also makes a wonderful gift. Within the Netherlands, shipping is free from €49,-, otherwise it costs €4,95. Returns cost €3,95. In Belgium and Germany, shipping is free from €69,-, otherwise it costs €4,95, and returns cost €4,95.

Returns within the Netherlands cost €3.95. You can cancel your order up to 14 days after receipt without giving a reason via the email from our shipping partner Sendcloud. This email contains a link to the return portal, where you can create a return label.
After cancellation, you have another 14 days to return the product at a PostNL point. You will receive the full order amount back, excluding any shipping costs to the customer. The product must be returned with all accessories and, if possible, in its original condition and packaging. We will refund the amount within 14 days of receiving the return shipment. For other European countries, a return fee applies, calculated via the Sendcloud link.
