Satellitebox Nightingale Oak | Little House with Birdsong | Relaxound

The Satellitebox is a small house with the sound of a single bird, or another calming sound from nature. This version plays the song of the nightingale and has a front in real oak. Walk past and the singing begins — a minute long, and then it is quiet again. The sensor also responds to light. The Satellitebox charges over a USB-C cable.

The nightingale

The nightingale has the largest song repertoire of any European bird: hundreds of different phrases, with sudden silences in between. It prefers to sing at dusk and through the night, hidden in dense scrub, so you hear it far more often than you see it. In spring it returns all the way from Africa to breed here. That night-time singing is what made it a symbol of romance for centuries.

A front in real wood

The front is made of real oak, not veneer or a printed wood effect. The grain of the natural wood runs differently on every one, so no two Satelliteboxes are quite alike. It is the same wood as the Zwitscherbox in oak. Together they make a fine pair if you want to use them side by side.

On its own or with the Zwitscherbox

The Satellitebox has the same shape as the Zwitscherbox, only smaller. Where the Zwitscherbox plays a whole wood, the Satellitebox Nightingale plays the sound of a single bird. Use it on its own, or combine it with the Zwitscherbox: then you hear the wood, with your own favourite bird above it. Spread a few around the room and you have a soundscape of your own.

1% for the planet

1% for the planet asks companies to contribute to protecting the environment. Relaxound donates 1% of its annual turnover to two environmental organisations. In Germany that is the Bergwaldprojekt, which works to preserve and care for the forest. In India, where the production facility is based, part of the donation goes to Sadhana Forest: an ecological project that refills groundwater reservoirs so that food can be grown and villagers do not have to move to the urban slums.
