Satellitebox Northern Cardinal | Little House with Birdsong | Relaxound

The Satellitebox is a small house with the sound of a single bird, or another calming sound from nature. This version plays the song of the northern cardinal. It has a front in apricot acrylic, a soft shade that nods to the bird's bright red plumage. Walk past and the singing begins — a minute long, and then it is quiet again. The sensor also responds to light. The Satellitebox charges over a USB-C cable.

The northern cardinal

The northern cardinal comes from North America, where it is one of the best-known garden birds. The male is fiery red with a pointed crest and a black mask around the bill; the female is warm brown with red accents. Unusually, both of them sing — in most songbirds only the male does. Its clear, whistling call carries a long way and can be heard all year round, because it does not migrate in winter.

On its own or with the Zwitscherbox

The Satellitebox has the same shape as the Zwitscherbox, only smaller. Where the Zwitscherbox plays a whole wood, the Satellitebox Northern Cardinal plays the sound of a single bird. Use it on its own, or combine it with the Zwitscherbox: then you hear the wood, with your own favourite bird above it. Spread a few around the room and you have a soundscape of your own.

1% for the planet

1% for the planet asks companies to contribute to protecting the environment. Relaxound donates 1% of its annual turnover to two environmental organisations. In Germany that is the Bergwaldprojekt, which works to preserve and care for the forest. In India, where the production facility is based, part of the donation goes to Sadhana Forest: an ecological project that refills groundwater reservoirs so that food can be grown and villagers do not have to move to the urban slums.
