Satellitebox Wind Chime | Little House with Nature Sounds | Relaxound

The Satellitebox is a small house with the sound of a single bird, or another calming sound from nature. This version plays the sound of a wind chime. It has a front in peach acrylic, a warm shade that suits the gentle sound. Walk past and the sound begins — a minute long, and then it is quiet again. The sensor also responds to light. The Satellitebox charges over a USB-C cable.

The wind chime

A wind chime does not play a melody but single notes, in an order the wind decides. Because there is no pattern to it, the sound stays in the background: you hear it, but it asks nothing of you. That sets it apart from the birdsong in this range — where a blackbird or a nightingale makes you look up, the wind chime fills a room without interrupting it.

On its own or with the Zwitscherbox

The Satellitebox has the same shape as the Zwitscherbox, only smaller. Where the Zwitscherbox plays a whole wood, the Satellitebox Wind Chime plays a single sound. Use it on its own, or combine it with the Zwitscherbox: then you hear the wood, with the chime sounding underneath. Spread a few around the room and you have a soundscape of your own.

1% for the planet

1% for the planet asks companies to contribute to protecting the environment. Relaxound donates 1% of its annual turnover to two environmental organisations. In Germany that is the Bergwaldprojekt, which works to preserve and care for the forest. In India, where the production facility is based, part of the donation goes to Sadhana Forest: an ecological project that refills groundwater reservoirs so that food can be grown and villagers do not have to move to the urban slums.
