Lexon Alarm Clocks | Flip Alarm Clock and Mina Sunrise Wake-up Light

Alarm clocks by Lexon

The French design brand Lexon has alarm clocks in its collection that you operate by turning them over instead of pressing buttons. That makes them remarkably easy to use. The Flip has been around for more than ten years and works the same way in all three sizes: with the ON side up the alarm sounds; turn the OFF side up and the alarm switches itself off. Or leave the OFF side up if you do not want it to go off at all. So you can see from across the room whether it will go off tomorrow, without working through a complicated menu. The design comes from the British designers Adrian and Jeremy Wright and won the Red Dot “Best of the Best”.

Three sizes, the same idea

The Flip Mini is the smallest and lightest version, handy as a travel clock for a suitcase or weekend bag. The Flip Classic is the middle size and the best known of the three — the successor to the Flip+. The Flip Premium has an aluminium body and a Travel Lock System for travelling. All three charge over USB-C, dim in steps, and last months on one charge. The display light is off by default: you tap it and it lights up for four seconds, so there is no distracting light on your bedside table at night.

Waking up with light

The Mina Sunrise does something different: it combines an alarm clock with a wake-up light. Thirty minutes before your alarm time the light moves from dark blue to warm white, so you are woken by light rather than by sound. In the evening it runs the other way, from orange to red. It also works as an ordinary table lamp, with nine light colours that you dim by touching the top.

About Lexon

Lexon is a French design brand founded in 1991 that works with designers from all over the world. The Tykho radio from that collection is part of the permanent collection of the MoMA in New York. Besides alarm clocks, Lexon also makes rechargeable lamps and radios — simple operation, a recognisable silhouette, and a price in proportion.
